The year for new tech!

So… It’s been a couple of years now since I built any new PC x86 systems. I mean, don’t get me wrong I have tweaked and updated a few components here and there to keep the studio ‘puters running schmicko, but have held off from really sinking any serious coin into the current technology.

Why you might ask?

Because 2014/15 will see a bunch of new tech hit town with a bit of a blast:

New CPUs (fanless low-end desktop grade chips I hear!)
New HDD related stuff (goodbye to the ageing SATA/PATA/IDE interfaces!)
Of course RAM gets a boost too (DDR4)
USB gets a small number change but also a new interface makeover (not to mention a hefty speed bump for the inventively named USB 3.1)
and of course last but not least the very cool Wireless HDMI (it already exists now but it’s good to wait for these technologies to mature a little first)

All this new, exciting stuff means I can finally start moving forward with some of my computer related projects…

So I guess it’s time to re-list some of the old Core2Duo chips and DDR2 memory on eBay so I can afford to partake in this new technological revolution…

What do you hope to do with this new tech? I’d love to hear about it!

Some 1990’s Amiga gaming: Project X by Team 17 action… hmmm but the ol’ CRT needs a service though because the sounds coming out of it don’t sound healthy (or safe lol)
